Parallel Geoscience Offering Processing Services

Joint Venture with Terra Australis Geophysica Pty Ltd

Terra Australis Geophysica Pty Ltd (TAG), an emerging integrated geophysical consulting company in Australia, has signed an agreement with Parallel Geoscience Corporation (PGC) to offer data processing services in Brisbane, Australia. TAG brings both field and office processing expertise to the venture, while PGC is providing their Seismic Processing Workshop (SPW) software. Seismic data processing services and trained personnel now offer 2D, 3D and 3C field QC solutions. Full office-based processing, including pre-stack time migration, is available to the oil and gas sector as well as the engineering/environmental market. TAG is associated with EcoSeis, a seismic data acquisition company, specializing in shallow engineering and environmental applications.

Dan Herold, Vice President of PGC says of the venture, "Terra's expertise and experience in the Australian market is a perfect fit with the SPW line of products. This joint effort will provide Australian customers with a new choice for handling 2D, 3D and 3C processing problems." The purpose is to provide customized 2D, 3D and 3C seismic processing at a reasonable price, with prompt turn-around. Koya Suto, Director of TAG says, "PGC's SPW software provides the missing link in our portfolio. TAG now can service the resource, environmental and engineering industries from seismic data acquisition, through processing to interpretation".

SPW adds Multi-Component Features

Joint Venture with Anitec Limited

Parallel Geoscience Corporation has added multi-component capabilities to their Seismic Processing Workshop (SPW). We are presently implementing 4C enhancements from Anitec Limited, and expect both existing and prospective users will welcome these features, especially those in the OBC market. For Anitec, this collaborative effort gives them access to a first class processing facility to offer its clients, and a basis on which to add its own software.

SPW on Linux

Parallel Geoscience Corporation is pleased to announce the release of SPW Linux. Linux provides native support for parallel processing. Cost-effective clusters can be configured for extremely high speed seismic processing. SPW for Linux is designed to take advantage of these capabilities. Linux clusters may be easily configured to execute SPW processing flows, submitted simultaneously, from several desktop Linux or Windows SPW systems.
The Linux operating system is a public domain implementation of UNIX, long proven to be very robust and powerful. Linux, readily recognized as a server and development platform, is quickly becoming the desired system for everyday desktop use. In fact, there are well over 30 million Linux users worldwide. Linux, being freeware, optimizes parallel processing on inexpensive PCs often exceeding the performance of supercomputers for about a tenth of the cost.
Installing Linux is quite easy. Everything is very modular and adaptable. You only install what you need. Linux supports easy, click-here installation and graphical user environments, with administration tools much like those found in other operating systems. The difference is you can choose the one that suits you best.
No special skills are required to use Linux. It only takes a little time and patience to learn. Linux is very clear and gives you excellent control of the system. In addition, troubleshooting is easy under Linux because of good online documentation. What is particularly astounding about Linux is its level of precision. You can control and customize practically everything.
We think Linux has much to offer. All in all, the power, stability, transparency, flexibility, support, control, affordability and ease of use in Linux provide a perfect match for SPW. Now, in addition to the existing Windows and Macintosh environments, Parallel Geoscience Corporation anticipates the release of SPW for Linux.
Feel free to contact us for references of SPW user's so you can ask them directly about their impressions and experiences using our products. Simply send us an e-mail note at PGC.

SPW for IRIS Members

SOFTWARE SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE FEES AGREEMENT

Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology

Parallel Geoscience Corporation

As of December 1, 1999, Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) and Parallel Geoscience Corporation (PGC) have entered into a five-year agreement whereby IRIS is funding support and maintenance fees for members who currently own or who purchase PGC's Seismic Processing Workshop (SPW) software. As part of this agreement, PGC is also offering a significant discount on the price of the SPW software to IRIS members. SPW licenses are available on Windows NT/2000/XP, Linux and Macintosh platforms.

TERMS

  • PGC will lower the purchase price of the complete SPW
package to $5000.00 per license for all IRIS members.

  • Those members who already have a limited SPW license
may receive the full license for a $100.00 charge to cover
the cost of the keys and shipping.

  • With each puchase of SPW, IRIS members may lease annually
for lab purposes up to ten additional seats. These fees
will be paid for by IRIS.

  • PGC will provide up to 5 weeks per year of training for
IRIS members. Attendance will be limited to 15 persons
per session. Locations will be arranged by IRIS using mem-
ber's facilities. IRIS will sponsor a few of these courses,
but if a participating institution so desires, it may spon-
sor one of it's own. The cost of this training is $2500
per week plus reasonable travel expenses.

  • SPW licenses will be available on Windows NT/2000/XP, Linux,
Macintosh and any other future systems supported by PGC.

  • Participating IRIS members may only use SPW for non-profit
    teaching and research purposes.
